I am a board-certified Child Abuse Pediatrician and General Pediatrician, and the medical director of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Pediatric Hub, a public clinic which provides comprehensive medical evaluations and primary pediatric care to children in the Los Angeles County foster care system, as well as forensic interviews and forensic medical evaluations for children for whom there is an investigation by child welfare services or law enforcement for possible child abuse, exploitation or exposure to violence.
I am the Principal Investigator for a grant from the California Office of Emergency Services with provides funding for the salaries for the forensic interviewers who work in our program. ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ’s Office of Special Programs and the School of Medicine are the recipient of the funds for that grant.
I am a clinical instructor for the ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ Family Medicine Residency program and the ÌÒ×ÓÊÓƵ Child Psychiatry fellowship, as well as the Harbor-UCLA Child Abuse Pediatric fellowship.
Scholarly Activities
I testify in dependency and criminal court as an expert witness on the medical evaluation of child abuse. I also lecture to medical, legal and social work professionals on this subject. I have written some academic papers on the health effects of being in the foster care system.
